Anguilla is getting its first marina built for large yachts. Port Nimara, on the island’s southwest coast near Maundays Bay, opens its first berths in early 2027: 118 of them, for yachts up to 240 ft (73 m), with a customs and immigration desk on the dock. The pontoons are in the water and the basin is dug; the developers confirmed the 2027 date this autumn, with the hotel and villas to follow in 2029.
Broker insight
The St Maarten, St Barts and Anguilla loop is the one I get asked for most in the Leewards, and up to now Anguilla has been a day stop. You anchor off Maundays Bay or Sandy Island, have lunch ashore and go back to St Maarten or St Barts for the night. A dock with customs on the island changes that. We can start or finish the week there and give the group a proper night in Anguilla. Tell us the dates and we will work out which side to start from.

What this means for your charter
Until now a yacht in Anguilla anchored. There was no dock for a 150-footer, no fuel alongside, no customs on the water, so the island was a lunch stop on a St Maarten or St Barts week and the yacht slept somewhere else. From 2027:
- a St Barts charter can start or end in Anguilla, 26 nautical miles away, with clearance done at the berth
- the yacht can sit in Anguilla for a night with shore power and water, which the big boats need between anchorages
- St Maarten’s airport is 11 nautical miles from the marina, so a group can land at Princess Juliana and be aboard in Anguilla within the hour by water
For a 12-guest charter in the Leewards the practical effect is a third base. St Maarten for the airport, St Barts for the harbour and the restaurants, and now Anguilla for the quiet beaches with a dock to come home to.
What is being built at Port Nimara?
- 118 berths for yachts to 240 ft (73 m), with heavy-duty concrete pontoons from SF Marina already installed
- a dedicated customs and immigration facility at the marina
- a yacht club, fuel, provisioning and maintenance, and a waterfront promenade
- phase one open to yachts in early 2027; the Equinox Resort, 18 beachfront villas and 45 hillside residences from 2029
The developers are TEI Inc., SF Investments and Antillean Developments. David Mizrahi of SF Investments calls it a plan “to establish a world-class maritime destination that honors Anguilla’s natural allure”. Berth prices and the booking route for visiting yachts have not been published; we will add them when they are.
Our take
The Leewards have always had the beaches and never quite had the infrastructure. St Barts has Gustavia, which fills in December; St Maarten has the airport and the big yards; Anguilla had sand. A marina with customs on it turns the best beaches in the group into a place a yacht can be based. For the 2027-28 winter we expect the St Maarten, Anguilla, St Barts loop to be sold as a three-base week rather than two bases and a day trip, and the yachts that take an Anguilla berth for Christmas and New Year to be the first ones gone.
